Stunning BnB Renovation Update
We are pleased to provide an update on the ongoing B&B renovation challenge of our future bed and breakfast (BnB) in Pietrasanta, Italy. As you may recall, our journey began in 2021 with the acquisition of a charming property ideally suited for a BnB.
Initial efforts focused on securing the requisite permits and assembling a qualified team of construction professionals. However, our progress was significantly impacted by the global Covid-19 pandemic. During the period between 2021 and 2022, coinciding with the closure of the state of emergency in Italy, the project was placed on hold. This unforeseen delay, along with the general backlog caused by the pandemic, pushed back our timeline.
The Bureaucracy Maze
Obtaining the necessary permits in Italy can be a complex process, and Covid-19 only exacerbated the situation. In 2022, navigating the system to request restructuring permission took a full year. Thankfully, by December 2022, we finally received the approval. This delay was undoubtedly linked to the pandemic’s impact on government offices, where many requests were left pending due to reduced capacity.
The Light at the End of the Tunnel (But Watch Out for Falling Rocks!)
Thankfully, with the permit for the house secured and market fluctuations subsiding, we are now in a much stronger position to move forward. The restoration of the house itself is complete, and we are currently focusing on the finer details. This includes selecting high-quality linens, sourcing unique furnishings, and curating a selection of amenities designed to enhance your stay. The Pool Permit: A Race Against Time – B&B Renovation challenge continues
The final hurdle lies with the swimming pool permit approval. While the administration has tentatively promised a completion date by the end of March, we are all too familiar with the occasional delays inherent in Italian bureaucracy. Once the permit is secured, we will immediately begin construction on the pool and surrounding amenities. This will undoubtedly put a tight squeeze on our timeline, but we are determined to open our doors as soon as possible.
We understand this wait has been frustrating, and we appreciate your patience. We will update you with any new information as soon as it becomes available. Please be aware that the end-of-April target date for the pool permit is just that – a target. We will keep you informed of any changes that may affect the opening date of the BnB.
The Full Picture: Pool, Parcel, Paradise, and Parking
It’s important to note that the pool construction timeline includes not only the build itself but also the necessary time for landscaping the surrounding area. Once the machinery leaves the site, we will need to meticulously rebuild the parcel, ensuring the garden complements both the house and the pool. This additional step requires careful planning and execution.
Beyond the Pool: Building a Haven for Guests
Our vision extends beyond the refreshing oasis of the pool. We are also planning to construct private parking slots for the convenience of our guests. However, we will prioritize completing the pool and surrounding amenities to ensure a smooth opening phase. Construction of the parking spaces will follow swiftly after.
